HEALING PORTFOLIO

Below is our healing portfolio displaying what an impact specialized wound care at WALKS℠ Wound Centers can have on your life.

Have you been experiencing any of the following?

  • Constant or periodic tingling in the toes, feet or hands
  • Constant or periodic burning in the toes, feet or hands
  • Constant or periodic pain in the toes, feet or hands
  • Muscle weakness or numbness

If so, you may be suffering from some form of Neuropathy.

The Foot Clinic and WALKS Wound Centers may have a solution to the pain and discomfort you are experiencing; a nerve decompression procedure developed by a physician from Johns Hopkins University by the name of A Lee Dellon, MD.

Neuropathy:

  • A general term that translates to nerve transmittal conduction
  • Among one of the most common complications of diabetes and may occur in up to 50% of diabetics, despite controlling blood sugar
  • Once it occurs and without treatment, it almost always gets worse
  • Is a leading cause of ulcerations/infections in the feet, and in advanced cases amputation
  • Starts with periodic sensory changes such as numbness or tingling in the toes, eventually becoming constant
  • Can cause changes in muscle strength, leading to hammertoe deformities

Dr. Zappa successfully completed the Dellon course in 2004. Our practices have experienced great success performing this procedure, helping patients suffering from Neuropathy by reducing pain, tingling, numbness and other neuropathic symptoms. In many instances it has prevented the occurrence of wound formation, amputation and Charcot Arthropathy

The Dellon Procedure may help:

Reduce pain 90%
Improve sensation 70%
Reduce the ulceration rate and prevent foot infections and amputations

The surgical procedure is similar to the carpal tunnel syndrome and tarsal tunnel syndrome procedures performed in a hospital or surgery center, and takes about one to two hours (depending on the number of nerves that are affected).
